Ember joined us with breeding potential, but as she matured, it became clear that breeding would not be in her best interest. She was spayed and kept exactly where she belongs — at the heart of our home. She represents what guides every decision we make: the dog always comes before the program. Some dogs shape our future through breeding. Others remind us why we do this at all. Ember is the latter.

Our in home facilities

We raise our puppies in our home, right along side our sires and dams. We have a designated puppy nursery as well as a specially designed playground area and large enclosed back yard for playing and socialization. Our facilities are designed to provide a comfortable and loving environment for our dogs, while exposing them to the sights, sounds and smells of an every day household. Each Shih Tzu is raised with care using ENS (early neurological stimulation), ensuring they are ready to become a cherished member of your family.

If you are looking for a Shih Tzu look no further than Renee at Aleka Shih Tzus. From our very first conversation I knew she was the breeder I would work with. She is very knowledgeable about the breed and answered all my questions. Because of travel plans that I had she kept the puppy I selected for a few extra weeks. I’ve had Toby now for 1 week and am absolutely in love! From the first night, he slept in his carrier with not a single whine and has slept through the night, not waking up until he hears me stirring. Toby is smart, funny, playful and an absolute doll. He loves car rides! He already is learning “come” and “it” and although not perfect in potty training doing amazing for only being with me for a week. I am so happy to have found Renee and her darling Shih Tzu!

I have to say that all the other reviewers are spot on with everything they've stated about Renee and Aleka Shih Tzu. Renee answered every question and addressed every concern I had and CONTINUES to! I honestly don't know how she does it other than the fact that she's so professional, caring and deeply invested in what she does. My husband and I traveled many hours in just two days, and it was more than worth it to meet Renee and pick up our new puppy who's beyond fabulous in every way. He's very healthy, attentive, (which obviously makes for a very quick learner), and absolutely the most beautiful, adorable, affectionate puppy I could've ever asked for. He is a testament to her excellent breeding and training practices. I feel extremely grateful that Aleka Shih Tzu is on Good Dog. In my experience, breeders of Renee's caliber are simply uncommon. Renee and I talked for at least a year and a half before we decided to get our two puppies. We had two Shih Tzus before and loved and missed them so much—it just took us some time to decide, even though we knew there was room in our hearts to love new puppies. Renee was incredibly helpful and patient with all of my questions, and over time we became friends and have stayed in touch frequently. I followed many breeders before making a decision, but I kept coming back to Renee because I could truly see how reputable and caring she is. We live about 13 hours away and drove to pick up Flora and Flynn. The puppies are doing great, are potty trained, and we’re working on teaching them tricks. They are precious and so very loved.
